Gotta Go Gotta Throw

This is one event that will change the way we play disc golf forever.  On Saturday, I met up with Marcus and Samuli from Saltspring and we decided to go to the beach.  Being DiscHeads we decided to play an incredibly fun game of disc golf around Pipers Lagoon in Nanaimo.  The tide was rising, so a we lost a dozen discs into the ocean, and went swimming too.  The rules are:

  1. There is no OB.  Play from where your disc lies, even if you have to swim to it, dive to retrieve it, and tread water while throwing it.  Unsafe lies are counted solely as a lost disc, and play is resumed from where the lost disc crossed the water.
  2. There is no par on this course.
  3. Each player starts with the same number of discs, preferably floating discs, and a mini marker that floats. (these markers are water tight so they can also hold your cigarettes and lighter).
  4. At the end of the game, the player with the lowest score wins. The score is calculated by subtracting the number of discs you have left at the end of the game from the number of strokes you took.  Each disc is worth 2 strokes. Example:  I  take 100 strokes, but only have 1 disc left.  My score is 98.
  5. All players must wear swimming trunks and sandals with a heel strap.
  6. If the weather or currents are uncertain, we will provide Lifejackets and a Towline to ensure safety.

So after this extremely fun time, we decided we are going to film the next game we play.  It will be filmed on Saturday August 2.  It will be a showdown between team Canada, Germany and Finland.  We will each have 10 brand new driver/midrange discs and a floating putter. We will be placing a portable basket on each hole as we play the course.  Tides are perfect for us that day, making it able to play the front 9 while the tide is low, and the back 9 while the tide is high, to ensure a completely hard to play, incredibly hard to not lose discs course.

Our Sponsor for this event is Gotta Go Gotta Throw.  Thank you for your support, without you this would not be possible.
Our list of confirmed discs (per player) is as follows:

2 Mini marker discs that fit together and are water tight.
1 Quest Odessy Ultra Long Range Driver
1 Innova DX Starfire
1 Innova DX Valkerie
1 Innova DX Destroyer
1 Innova DX Teebird
1 Innova DX Roc
1 Innova Hydra
1 Innova Dragon
1 Lightning #1 Rubber Putter
1 Ligntning #2 Driver
1 Lightning #2 Hyzer
1 Lightning #3 Hookshot

Get ready for some fun!!  Here is the course map. Hole length ranges from 194 to 544 feet.  The water is close by and the cliffs are very tall.  One missed putt means you are swimming.

 Pipers Lagoon Extreme DGC

Now we have a list of events and sponsors for these events that is astonishing.  The events are:

Throw Pipers Lagoon in BC
Throw from Building top to Building top
Throw from one end of a ferry to taget at the other end of ferry
Throw from kayak to floating target
Throw from helicopter to flying target hanging from bottom of other helicopter
Throw from plane to ground target
Throw skydiving to target attached to a parachute
Throw from open draw bridge to other side over river

and the list is growing.
